...is a newly discovered species of dinosaur found in southeastern Siberia and described this year by Dr Godefroit and his colleagues. It's the first known herbivorous dinosaur to have not only scales, bit avianlike feathers, too! It's a basal Neornithischian that lived in a lacustrine freshwater environment in Middle to Late Jurassic. This great discovery published in Science shows that possibly all (not just Theropods), even the early dinosaurs might have had feathers. Therefore it it also likely that the feathers evolved as an insulation against cold and probably also had a signalling function (which works together with the new theory that this function was very important as it seems all dinosaurs were, like birds, tetrachromatic and could therefore percept colors including the UV part of the spectrum).
